Update on Land Claim Negotiations

Posted by

Further to the latest community meetings that were held in late 2017 on the status of the land claim, Council wishes to inform the membership that the Council and legal team are continuing to work diligently and make progress on this matter.

As this matter is before the courts, the Council is unfortunately very limited in the information that it is able to share on an ongoing basis.

Council wishes to emphasize, however, that the membership will continue to be consulted through the process, as we have in the past, and when a potential settlement is eventually brought forward at some point in the future, the terms of that settlement, include matters such as financial and land compensation and other matters such as potential distributions to the membership, will be brought forward for review and ratification by the membership as set out in our Chi Naaknigewin.

Miigwetch for your patience and understanding.
