Job Posting – White Lake Limited Partnership: Finance Manager
The White Lake Limited Partnership is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Pic Mobert First Nation mandated to develop and operate business contracts and ventures for the benefit of the Pic Mobert First Nation and its members. The Partnership is presently engaged in a wide variety of business lines and projects and is preparing for anticipated, significant growth that will accompany several major new resource developments and public infrastructure projects in the next 1-3 years. As such, there is considerable work to be done!
Reporting and working closely with the CEO, the Finance Manager will be accountable for overseeing the financial affairs of the organization and its subsidiaries, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, preparation of the annual audits and ongoing financial monitoring and control. The Finance Manager is also responsible for monitoring and managing accounts payroll and receivable, including government remittances, and payroll.
The Finance Manager will also work closely with other staff on the financial aspects of new business and control proposals and tenders, and thereafter on the analysis of their performance.
The Finance Manager will attend meetings of the Board of Directors and the Limited Partner (Chief and Council) to present financial reports, and will be the principal interface for Applicants must at least 5+ years of supervisory and hands-on experience in business accounting and finance, a ideally utilizing the Adagio software platform, PayDirt payroll and MS Office applications.
You are analytical, work well independently and as part of a larger staff team, and are an excellent communicator. Familiarity with First Nations communities and organizations would be a strong asset, and at a minimum a sincere approach to working respectfully in a setting that is rich in many diverse gifts and opportunities, along with the challenges and struggles that are part of our current reality. A sincere commitment to building the capacity of subordinate staff is a must – there is presently one direct report to this position, a financial clerk.
This position is deemed part-time (minimum 20 hours per week), but there is a strong potential to increase the working hours by extending services to our subsidiary companies in the near and longer term. It is anticipated that the position will be full time during the initial period of employment as systems are developed and established – the timing of this will be negotiated based on a work-plan.
This position will require attendance at the offices in the First Nation but the nature of the work would support some working remote arrangements.
