Job Posting – Netamisakomik Anishinabek (Pic Mobert First Nation): Economic Development Officer
The Netamisakomik Anishinabek (Pic Mobert First Nation) is an Ojibway Community of approximately 350 people whose traditional territory is centred on White Lake in Northwestern Ontario.
Our First Nation is in the midst of an exciting time in our economic development with a growing number of local enterprises and co-ventures and numerous major infrastructure and resource developments occurring within our traditional territory and the surrounding region.
The Community Economic Development Officer will be responsible for facilitating community and economic development planning and initiatives; identifying and fostering community economic development opportunities; securing funding for economic development activities and programs; assisting local organizations, businesses and individuals with establishing economic development plans and projects; and promoting the community in order to expand economic development opportunities.
In order to succeed in this position, one should have strong research and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, understand business basics, be able to use Excel and other MS Office applications, and be positive, reliable and enthusiastic about the economic development of the First Nation.
Applicants should have a Diploma or Degree in Community Economic Development and/or Business Administration combined with a minimum of 3 years of community development experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
Successful applicant must have valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
The successful applicant will be required to pass a drug test, provide a satisfactory criminal records check and be current on all financial commitments to the Netamisakomik Anishinabek (Pic Mobert First Nation), prior to commencing employment.
This position will work under the supervision of the CEO and work closely with the White Lake Limited Partnership, our First Nation’s development corporation. The position requires a high level of commitment.
