Report from Chief Johanna Desmoulin on Planned Changes to Management Structure
The Chief and Council recently met with our senior management team to consider improvements to the structure of our organization to address our ongoing and changing needs.
In particular, as our organization grows, we have become aware that the growing demands that we have been placing on our current senior managers have been increasingly challenging for them to keep up with.
I would like to inform of some important changes that the Council considered and approved at our August 16, 2017 meeting:
- We will posting soon for a new Band (General) Manager position that will be based full-time in our offices and focussed entirely on supporting our administration and operations.
- Elaine Stewart will move to the position of Director of Finance and Administration and will be focused on financial management and systems, procurement/purchasing, information technology, asset management and security.
- Norman Jaehrling, has been looking for ways to spend more time with his family and slowly start the retirement process, and will be reorganizing his time and increasing the time spent in his role as CEO of the White Lake Resources Corp., in order to better lead and support our growing business ventures. In addition, he will continue to work directly with the Chief and Council on long term and strategic initiatives including continuing to provide support to the Band Council on leadership and governance matters.
In addition to these changes, we will soon be hiring two new managers, including in Lands & Resources and Public Works and Housing – the latter position will be vacated soon by Chris Bananish who has decided instead to focus on his Council duties following his recent election.
We will also be posting soon for a new Housing Coordinator position, that will be focused on policy and program concerns related to our community housing program.
The Council is looking forward to implementing these new changes, and wish to express our sincere gratitude to our current senior management team, Norm and Elaine, for their continued dedication, hard work and commitment to advancing our community and organization – we are looking forward to having them continue to play an important role in the operation and development of our organization.
